Our Story

Formed in 2022 by Leeds based musician Ciaran Diston, The Silk Tones aimed to bring focused, high quality musical productions to private events in the UK.

The backbone of the band is the musical arrangements provided by Ciaran, whose work as an arranger has included TV and theatre credits, as well as his work touring the UK as an in demand session trumpet player.

Ciaran's passion for capturing the excitement of his favourite records was the spark from which The Silk Tones started, and was born out of a frustration of playing events where the horn section was an afterthought. When writing the arrangements, the horn section (trumpet, trombone, saxophone) are front and centre, and form the core of the band's sound.
